A Visit to WonderWorks
A recent visit to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee found this family of five intrigued by the upside down building called WonderWorks. Yes, when you pull up to the building, it actually looks like a building crashed into the ground upside down! After paying a hefty admission price ($19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children under 12) you are led through a psychadelic tunnel with spiral lights that makes you feel as if you are falling over! Talk about sensory overload! The remainder of the museum is filled with simulators and interactive, hands-on exhibits. One of the kids' favorite things was the bed of nails! We did not go on it, but it was cool to watch other people get on it. There was also a hurricane simulator that you could stand in and feel 60 mph winds, just as if you were in a hurricane. Another neat thing was the Titanic water exhibit. You could put your hand in a water bucket that was cooled to 28 degrees so that you could feel how cold the water was when the Titanic went down. One of the rooms was full of enormous tubs to make soap bubbles. It was hard to make a bubble, but it was nice to try. Also there was a simulator/ride that looked like a cafe. You would sit in it and then after a minute or two you would be in an earthquake! All in all, very cool things for the kids and parents to do and a good way to spend a few hours away from the hot sun! Enjoy! |
